HISTORY
A Christian church has been present in New Salem since the 1700s. The current congregation at Central was established in 1845 as an expression of a renewed Christian witness in the area. At that time the present building was constructed. Upkeep and improvements have taken place over the years, most notably the addition of church furnishings and organ coming from churches that are now under the Quabbin Reservoir.
In recent history the church is a member of the United Church of Christ founded in the 1950s.
A TYPICAL SUNDAY
Sunday services are from 10 to 11am.
The form of the service is traditional yet relaxed, with singing of historic hymns and responsive reading and liturgy.
There are special services at Christmas and Easter time.
